Acid vs. Alkaline
If you don’t remember basic chemistry some of what is written here might be a touch confusing. Acids are less than 7 on the pH scale and alkaline (or bases) are more than 7.

I have Psoriasis. Well more correctly, I have Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). So I sometimes get those flaky red skin patches that are impossible to get rid of and usually uncomfortable. Once I got these patches on my eyelids and they were unbearable.
I stumbled on a medical study that suggested that the Psoriasis is aggravated by the acidic level of the body.
A quick internet search ensued and I began to find that there are other diseases that are also impacted by the pH of the body.
Our bodies are usually quite acidic. Most everything we eat is acidic, including most “healthy” foods.
- Milk - Lactic Acid
- Citrus Fruits - Citric Acid
- Tomatoes - Citric Acid, Malic Acid & others
- Soda - Phosphoric Acid & Citric Acid
- Sour candy - Citric Acid & others
- Peanuts - According to nutritionists, peanuts are alkaline but form acid as part of the digestion process, which makes them net acidic for our purposes here.
If having an acidic body opens the door to health problems and most foods are acidic in nature, how do we offset the acidic input of the food we eat and try to balance out our body pH and try to make our body less hospitable to disease? How do we do this in a way that doesn’t taste like baking soda?
I use (and recommend) a product called Alkalime, this is a powder that dissolves in water, or other liquid, that tastes a little like lemon-lime soda, but is alkaline in pH. I take this product daily and it has reduced my psoriasis, and several other medical problems have subsided as well. Few products on the market have given me the dramatic change in health I have seen.
